A really easy and worthwhile day trip from Glasgow: Greenan Castle in Ayrshire. All you do is get a train to Ayr, walk 10 minutes to Ayr Beach, then walk another forty five minutes along the beach to the castle. The castle itself is untouched and crumbling, as Scottish castles should be, and the view at sunset is STUNNING. Here’s some photographs we took of our visit.

The sunset at Greenan Castle is spectacular.
The silhouette of the castle looks incredible against the sunset sky.
