One year ago today I published my first blog post. Back then I still wasn’t entirely sure why I was starting a blog; thoughts like “the blogging market is saturated,” “it’s a lot of effort for not much payback” and “who cares what I have to say?” were my main thoughts. But overriding this was the feeling I had a lot of experience travelling, a lot of stories, advice and tips to pass on, and a desire to carve out tiny piece of the internet to do just that.
In the beginning I watched as hardly anyone visited. Then I realised I hadn’t set up Google Analytics properly. In the last twelve months the number of visitors to my blog increased consistently and now I am astonished and delighted by the number of people who visit my blog every day from around the world.
Reading over my blog posts from the last year and picking my favourites kind of feels like this picture. But hey ho, it’s my blogging birthday so here goes.
